I Am in the East: Jerusalem - Spain
19:00 - 20:00
Dwek Gallery, Mishkenot Sha'ananim Cultural Center
In twelfth-century Spain, Rabbi Yehudah HaLevi wrote: “My heart is in the east, and I in the uttermost west.” The exhibition “I Am in the East” turns the tables, presenting the works of artists who, on the one hand, are active in the local, Middle Eastern Levantine space, are identified with it and recognize themselves and their roots within it, but at the same time are exposed to the Western discourse, Western culture in general, and Spanish culture in particular. The exhibit features artists from Israel and Spain: Jorge Gil (Spain), Silvia Gifkin (Spain), Daniella and Shai Azoulay, Meydad Eliyahu, Neta .Elkayam, Shy Abadi, and Lida Sharet Massad
Curators: Ram Ozeri, Vera Pilpoul
In cooperation with the Jerusalem Biennale for Contemporary Jewish Art
*The event will be held in Spanish with Hebrew translation
Admission is free
