Yali Sobol
Sobol was born in 1972 in Haifa, and raised in Tel Aviv and London. A musician, singer, and novelist. In 1992 he founded Monica Sex, one of Israel’s most successful rock bands, with which he still plays, in addition to his solo career. The band’s debut album, Wounds and Kisses (1995), is considered one of the most outstanding artistic and commercial achievements in 1990s Israeli music. Sobol’s debut novel, Between Apartments, was published in 2003. His second novel, Key Money, was published in 2006. His third book, Fingers of a Pianist, published in 2012, was shortlisted for the Geffen Prize for Best Fantasy Novel. That year, Sobol has won the ACUM Award for Best Lyricist for the album Melody. Sobol has translated several books from English and had a personal political column in the newspaper Ha’ir.
