Yair Garbuz
Born in Givatayim in 1945. He studied painting under Avraham Naton, Yehiel Krize, and Moshe Propes, and was Raffi Lavie’s student for five years. Since 1967, his works have been featured in a host of solo exhibitions and group shows in Israel and worldwide. His paintings are included in Israeli and international private and public collections. He founded HaMidrasha Journal of Art, and has written numerous essays about Israeli artists for books and catalogues. He presented and was a guest on many cultural television programs and was one of the editors of the satirical supplement Davar Acher. He has published seven books, including Forever Polish and Oy, My Beloved Country, and created six films. Garbuz has won many awards, including the 2000 Israel Discount Bank Prize for an Israeli Artist, Israel Museum, Jerusalem and the 2004 Emet Prize.
