Matan Hermoni
A novelist, translator, editor, and lecturer in literature. His debut novel, Hebrew Publishing Company, has earned him the Bernstein Prize and was shortlisted for the Sapir Prize. His widely acclaimed second novel, Four Countries, was included in the long list for the Sapir Prize. Hermoni won the 2014 Prime Minister’s Prize for Literature. His translations from Yiddish, which include poems by Moyshe Leyb Halpern and Mani Leib and stories by Isaac Bashevis Singer and Moyshe Nadir, have been printed in the journals Ho! and Davka, as well as in the book he has edited, America: The New World in Yiddish and Hebrew. Hermoni is a regular contributor of literary columns to the Books supplement of Haaretz and teaches literature and creative writing at the Open University and Sapir College. Recently, he has been appointed editor-in-chief of Moznaim literary journal. A novel and a children’s book he has written will be published later this year.
