Juan Gabriel Vásquez (Colombia)
Born in 1973 in Bogotá, Colombia. Juan Gabriel Vásquez is the author of a book of stories and four novels, two of which have been published in Hebrew: The Informers and The Sound of Things Falling, for which he received the Alfaguara prize in Spain, the Gregor von Rezzori prize in Italy, and the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. His forthcoming book Reputations has won the Premio Real Academia Española. He is the recipient of the Prix Roger Caillois, previously awarded to writers such as Mario Vargas Llosa and Roberto Bolaño, amongst others. He has translated works by EM Forster and John Dos Passos, amongst others, into Spanish. His works have been published in twenty five languages worldwide.
