Alex Rif
Rif was born in Ukraine in 1986, immigrated to Israel in 1991, and grew up in Netanya. She graduated from the screenwriting program at Sam Spiegel and received a bachelor’s degree in political sciences and business administration, and a master’s degree in public policy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (in the framework of the cadet program). She is one of the founders of Generation 1.5 Cultural Brigade: a group of Russian speaking young people that wish to bring the culture and story of immigrants from the former Soviet Union into the public discourse. The group has initiated the Novi God Israeli last December, and organizes the culture nights, Tusovka, in which artists originally from the former Soviet Union share their immigration experiences and Soviet Union-Israeli identity through art. The group is currently working on the project Operation Veteran, which will recount the heroic stories of Jewish soldiers who served in the Red Army during World War II.
