Shira Geffen
Born in Tel Aviv in 1971. Geffen is a screenwriter, director, author of children’s books, and actress who performed on the stages of Habima, Cameri, and Khan Theaters. In 2005, she established the Kenafayim Theater company for actors with special needs. She won first prize at the Haifa Children’s Theater Festival in 1998 and the Hadassah Prize for Children Literature in 2003. In 2007 she co-wrote and directed the film Jellyfish with her partner, Etgar Keret, which won three awards in the Cannes film festival, including the prestigious Camera d’Or Award. In 2014 she wrote and directed the film Self Made, which was debuted at the Cannes Film Festival Critics’ Week, and won AFI Fest’s New Auteurs jury prize, and the editing and screenplay awards in the Jerusalem Film Festival.
