Dror Burstein

Born in Netanya in 1970. Teaches literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University. His doctoral dissertation, written under professor Dan Meron for the Department of Hebrew Literature in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, explored the works of Jacob Shabtai. He edits the publications of Helicon Poetry Society. Burstein has authored the book of poems Fruit; Divorce, the novels Avner Brenner, Murderers, Kin, and Sun’s Sister, and the memoire Natanya. His book Mud has been published last February. He has also written two nonfiction books, Issues in Literature and Meat and Art, and the children’s book My Cup of Tea (with the artist Meir Appelfeld); co-translated and edited two Zen books with Yoel Hoffman, Zhaozhou’s Zen book and The Sound of One Hand Clapping; translated Alan Watts’ Tao: The Watercourse Way; and co-translated a collection of selected verses from the Zenrin-Kushū, Empty-Handed I Return Home, with Eitan Bolokan. Member of the Hebrew haiku project Missing Moon. He lives in Tel Aviv with his wife, daughter, son, and dog.
