Gilles Rozier

Gilles Rozier was born in Grenoble (France) in 1963. He lives in Paris.

Since 1999, he has published 7 novels in French. One of them, Un amour sans résistance, has been translated into 12 languages (Hebrew: Ahava kluah, Shocken, translation : Arno Baehr ; English: The Mercy Room, Little, Brown & Co).

PhD in Yiddish literature, he was, from 1994 until 2014, the director of Paris Yiddish Center-Medem Library, the largest Yiddish culture center in Europe.

In 2008, he founded Gilgulim, a magazine of contemporary Yiddish literature. He also writes poetry in Yiddish.

Gilles Rozier is also a translator from Yiddish (Avrom Sutzkever, Tsilia Dropkin, Esther Kreitman, Chil Rajchman) and Hebrew (Dory Manor, Rachel Shalita) into French.

In 2015, he founded in Paris Les éditions de l’Antilope, a publishing company dedicated to Jewish literature.
