6.9.2020 Home Poetry, Journey Poetry: Workshop with Maya Tevet Dayan
How do we write the journey and how do we write home? And what happens when a path moves away and home wanders in time and distance? Poet Maya Tevet Dayan invites you to a unique poetry meeting where we will read journey poems and home poems, poems of remembrance and poems of the present, and write poetry inspired by them and by our lives.
7.9.2020 Growing Pains: A Prose-Writing Workshop with Deakla Keydar
When does a children’s story become an adult story? What is the place of darkness, humor, cruelty, and hope in young adult stories? Is it really easier to write for children or young adults, and what can be stolen from our childhoods for the sake of writing? Writer and screenwriter Deakla Keydar invites you to a unique meeting where we will unlock the secrets of writing for children and adults.
8.9.2020 A Room, Money, and A Book of Your Own: A Reading and Writing Workshop with Tamar Merin and Sivan Beskin
In order to write, a woman needs a room with a lock and a steady income. This is what Virginia Woolf claimed in “A Room of One’s Own”. But as women writing in twenty-first century Israel, and especially now, during a pandemic and in the face of economic scarcity, we know full well that it is not easy to be paid for writing. Can challenging economic conditions actually be good for writing?
During the workshop, led by poet Sivan Beskin and writer Tamar Merin, we will read selected excerpts from Woolf’s renowned essay and attempt to offer a contemporary model of writing. In addition, we will write in front of the screen, in a room of our own.
9.9.2020 On Writing and Exorcism: A Prose-Writing Workshop with Nir Baram
“I began my affair with writing at the age of sixteen,” says writer Nir Baram, “when I wrote a diary documenting my mother’s illness. After my mother died, the diary became my first book. What I realized was that writing is actually a process of exorcism. The author moves his fears, memories, and hopes to another world, a fictional one, that he creates.” Join Nir Baram for a unique writing workshop where he will explain how to use the materials of life and the world of the imagination to complete a story.
10.9.2020 A Writing Workshop on Literary Protagonists with Noa Yedlin
