Oscar Wilde's Coat, Virginia Woolf's Dress
Between Fashion and Literature
Wednesday | 14.11.18 | 19:30
Mishkenot Sha’ananim Cultural Center, Jerusalem
Why did Virginia Woolf write repeatedly about hats? What can we learn from Oscar Wilde’s fondness for clothing? What can Anna Karenina’s dress and Madame Bovary’s shoes teach us about these characters and the authors who dressed them?
Yaara Shehori, author and editor, is a guest of the Mishkenot Sha’ananim Residency program in the autumn of 2018. She and fashion designer Dorin Frankfurt will discuss fashion inspired by literature, clothing as identity and metaphor, and the link between text and textile.
At the event, moderated by Goel Pinto, host of the radio program “Kan- Culture”, footage from well-known films based on books will be screened.
* The audience is requested to arrive about 20 minutes before the start of the event.
* The number of seats is limited.
* Latecomers will not be allowed to enter.
* The program is subject to change.
